There are different levels of a MUX switch implementation but commonly you choose to bypass the iGPU, restart the laptop and the dGPU then is hardwired into the display without the overhead. They're called Multiplexer, or a "MUX", switch. Some laptops have a user-controlled switch to route dGPU->iGPU->Display or dGPU->Display. But that would be the only way to bypass the iGPU. Some laptops have the display out port directly connected to the dGPU and they'd actually perform much better into an external monitor compared to on the laptops monitor. That causes all kinds of latencies and performance hits. But what also happens in most laptops, is that the dGPU (high performance card from Nvidia or AMD) would still have to go thru the iGPU into the display (for technical reasons). Since CPU's come with an iGPU built-in, they're still used for low performance tasks for how they're more efficient for lower demanding tasks. There are a few devs that roam this reddit. The more FPS you set the more responsive is the game = less input lag. While setting fps cap on anything higher than 60 when using v-sync causes even more input lag and stutters/screen tearing, this one allows you to set FPS as high as possible while maintaining 60 fps synchronization. What it does is basically what v-sync does but it has additional buffer that holds last rendered frame. However I found a different option called Fast Sync. Additionally the input lag was horrendous. Stuttering was happening less than usual but still often enough to screw up the game. I can finally play again without getting angry at the performance!!! My game has been stuttering since Closed Beta and this was the first time I fixed it. If you havent tried this before you NEED TO try it. It is absolutely obvious this helps, I always tried it in the same conditions (bots, Corrupted Keep, DM with no abilities, same character, same background apps), there is no doubt, cant be other factors and the perceived difference is to large to ignore it You can Purchase Platinum in the Microsoft Store out of game as well. Quake Champions has also been released on the Microsoft Store. You can Purchase Platinum in game any time you would like. Platinum is the Premium in-game currency in Quake Champions. And its definitely much better than stuttering on the default 60 FPS Limit and VSync off. You can buy the BattlePass for 1000 platinum. 99% no stutter, and the input lag is extremely small, probably just notice it because I know I turned on VSync, otherwise I wouldnt even know its there. I tested this in Corrupted Keep, which is always almost unplayable for me due to extreme stuttering. So experiment with the value, but I assume it's always best to set the same as your screen, or maybe lower (I dont know because 60 FPS is the lowest possible). If I set even to 61, it starts lagging a little. I assume that's why 60 FPS limit is the best in combo with VSync. At the same time, if I turn off Vsync, its still smooth but I get severe screen tearing. If I set to anything higher than 60, it starts lagging the mouse.
